What's wrong with your on-hold system?
Most companies use on-hold telephone systems and these
companies mostly employ untrained voiceovers to greet their customer. Of
course it is a lot cheaper to use Tracy and Nigel from the accounts department
to record the voiceover. These untrained voices are irritating because they
lack warmth and sincerity. Even worse, they sound plain bored. It’s
not the most difficult job in the world to record one or two lines…..or
is it?
As though that is not bad enough, they record classic lines like:
’Your call is important to us.’
No, it’s not. I’ve been on hold listening to the same line for
five minutes – or was it ten?
Why do on-hold phone companies employ untrained voiceovers? Either because
they don’t understand the importance of a trained voice or they are
just making a bigger profit by using untrained people.
Either way, your company image is suffering.
It may be the first time a potential customer calls your company.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
It’s hard enough to feel appreciated and welcome by a machine, so
this is all the more reason you need a professionally trained voice and
better scripts.
